Does anyone have a tested and viable solution for painting IKEA furniture? The pieces I want to paint have a birch veneer on them right now, and nothing I've tried so far sticks.

Give them a Light Sanding using fine grade paper, wipe clean with dry cloth, apply a coat of Oil Base Primer (try Kilz)... let dry about 1-2 hours, then finish coat (recommend Oil for finish but Acrylic will work too (drys faster)...
