How soon can I sand a bad paint job after it has dried?

by Dan from Utah

We painted it to thick and it "ran". Can we sand it down and repaint soon?

Usually a couple of days is enough time. The biggest problem is the paint will "ball up" quickly when sanded. You will have to use a little finesse when sanding. If the area(s) are small sand by hand. A power sander will heat up the paint too quickly.
