How soon before you can paint in a brand new house or hang pictures?

In a brand new house is there a time period that you should wait before painting or hanging pictures on the walls?

Any time after you move in OK for painting or hanging pictures. By this time there has been at least a couple weeks since it was painted. Modern acrylic paints dry and cure quickly.
